Summary[edit]

Description

English: The Zaragoza festival is a tradition that takes place every December 28 in Sanare, Venezuela.

It commemorates the day of the slaughter of children by King Herod (from the Catholic tradition) and the Zaragozas represent the maddened mothers who go crying throughout the town.

This tradition represents the syncretism of the Venezuelan culture, because I knew that on those dates the indigenous people of the area performed dances to celebrate the corn harvest in the town.
