Zincite
For its size, this is one of the finest zincite specimens I have seen. The bright, translucent, cherry red crystal, 2.0 cm in length, is aesthetically perched on matrix. It has a repair midways, but its hard to see and all in context here, doesn't bother me so much to know its there (its very hard to see!) . This rare specimen is obviously an old timer as very little has come from Franklin since the 1940s. Just magnificent! I first had this piece 12-13 years ago and got it back recently, in a thumbnail collection purchase. Small world! I remembered it , though, as its one of the more memorable display quality thumbs of the species around. It has a VERY clean repair about the midline. If I had not done the repair myself all those years ago, I wouldn't even know or suspect, as its a very tight fit. Still and all, displays liek a world class thumbnail of the species and is a historic piece where you have to take such things in context, I feel.
