Request for change

Four countries are currently marked purple for "must be married". I am requesting that these countries be color-coded by the age requirement for marriage, and then they can have a symbol appended (such as a star in the middle) to indicate "must be married". I am assuming that there is an age requirement for marriage in these countries (i.e. a five-year-old cannot be married). I will make this change if someone knows the requirements for marriage in these four countries. Thanks. -- Rachel 16:46, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

Iran is the Northernmost country. Pakistan is the Easternmost country. Saudi Arabia is the Westernmost country. Oman is the country on the tip of the Arab peninsula. (Yemen, currently with no data, is next to it.)

  • Iran: 15 for males, 13 for females
  • Pakistan: 18 for males, 15 for females.
• en:Human rights in Yemen says, "The minimum marriage age has been abolished, and in practice, marriages are consumated when the bride is as young as nine years old." So, I am going to mark Yemen as 9 and must be married, Pakistan as 15, and Iran as 13 (per the original creator's statement "In some countries the age of consent differs for male & female. In these (namely Bolivia & Botswana), I chose to display the female's age of consent since it's generally considered the most "problematic" of the two."). Please let me know if you disgree. On a similar note I "reverted" Satesclop's changes to NI as it was changed to 16, but the descr. clearly says NI is 17 for girls. (I didn't actually revert, just changed colour back) - ^Рэд_хот 16:20, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
