Possibly, there is a factual mistake on the picture. Usually, monochromator is placed at the end of the optical way, not at the beginning, so that polychromatic radiation penetrates the sample. I mean, if we are talking about IR spectroscopy. UV-Vis spectroscopy is different, and it seems to me that the image refers not to IR, but to UV-Vis spectroscopy. — Maksim Fomich (talk) 21:51, 31 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
