I have no idea why you concluded that this might be a "copyright violation", please explain the criteria, and what to include in the text to avoid misunderstandings in the future. If you follow the "source" links clearly included in the original posting you will find that both of the original images have been released under CC-BY-SA-3.0. This composite image is a derivative work, clearly allowed under CC-BY-SA, and also licenced under CC-BY-SA-3.0 as required by CC-BY-SA, and as desired by the original owners.
