Connecticut Barns[edit]

Charles Sheeler created this painting while he worked for the Public Works Art Project. It was lost and rediscovered in 1983, in a closet at the Interior Department. Sheeler's name was misspelled in government records and there was no record that he had worked for the arts project; he was employed January 5, 1934 – March 15, 1934. The title of this painting is Connecticut Barns — distinguishing it from a watercolor that is titled Connecticut Barns in Landscape. That smaller watercolor is thought to be a study for this oil canvas. For more information see this source:
