This plant is not the original Echinopsis × imperialis, which has white flowers. The original parentage is not fully known, but probably a cross between Echinopsis eyriesii (now E. oxygona) and a species of the E. macrogona-alliance. Both has white flowers and would not produce a hybrid like this. The photo seems to show a hybrid of E. mamillosa and a "Trichocereus" as E. candicans or E. schickendantzii.
