Image permission[edit]

First message[edit]

Subject: Me again, Wikipedia request

Hello, I am one of the editors at Wikipedia, and I sent you a message asking if we could use your image of Mark Wahlberg a few months back. The image is one of the best ones I have seen for many of the celebrity articles on Wikipedia due to its high quality and great focus. Right now Wikipedia is one of the most-viewed websites on the Internet, and I believe that the many articles we have on celebrities would greatly improved if you would allow us to use some more of your images. I just realized that you have many quality images in your celebrities set (http://flickr.com/photos/caroline_bonarde/sets/72157594501080666/with/1030972226/) and was wondering if you would allow use to use more of your images to improve Wikipedia. I, myself, really like the Bruce Willis, Daniel Craig, and Sandra Bullock images! Due to Wikipedia's popularity, it is possible that hundreds of thousands of people (possibly millions?) could see your images over time. We would give you the credit and include a link back to your Flickr page (if you wish).

We can only use your images if you are willing to grant permission for them to fall under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Text_of_the_GFDL), the Creative Commons Attribution (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/), or the Creative Commons Attribution ShareAlike License (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/). It would be your choice of how you want your images covered, so if you do want to allow the use of the images, please take a look at the three licenses. The pages state that anyone will have the right to share and, where appropriate, to update your image, while giving you credit. Additionally, the articles state that other people might crop the image further, but you would still have your name and Flickr account as the author of the image. (I would probably slightly crop some, but most look great to begin with!) For example, they would look just like the one of Mark Wahlberg: commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:Markwahlbergshpr.jpg

Let me know if the images can be used for the free encyclopedia whenever it is convenient for you. If you do choose so, please reply back saying "I agree to release the images in the "Celebrities Set" under the terms of the GFDL license/Creative Commons Attribution/Creative Commons Attribution Sharealike" (whichever one you want to pick). If you don't want to release the images, then thank you for letting us use the Mark Wahlberg image. If you have any questions, message me back and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Thanks, and great job on your amazing pictures!

Hello,

thanks for the interest, I will be flattered to have any of my images at Wikipedia, I myself am a great user of Wikipedia. Be my guest to use any of my images. The way you credited the one of Mark Wahlberg will be fine with me. It would be great if you could let me know which ones you ended up using, just so I can see them and have a link. :)

Thanks very much! Happy New Year!
