Identification

See en:Wikipedia:Reference_desk_archive/Science/May_2006#Astrophyton_darwinium. The presumed identifications are invalid, because all Gorgonocephalidae look fairly alike. Astrophyton was a "wastebin genus" in Haeckel's time; "A." darwini could be a junior synonym of any species in any of the following genera (and perhaps more): Astracme, Astroboa, Astrocaneum, Astrocladus, Astrocyclus, Astrodictyum, Astrogordius, Astrophyton, Conocladus, Gorgonocephalus.
