Speeds[edit]

Are we considering line speed or train speed? I said that because most of spanish line are made to 350 km/h, but trains are running at 300-310 km/h until ERMTS is upgraded.--HrAd (talk) 09:08, 7 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I agree the description is not very clear. But as specified, "this map only includes tracks in operation in 2011, and is labeled with maximum allowed speed, not designed speed.".
In fact, The designed speed of the lines is generally not clearly known, and subject of claims, without proof. Then, the real used speed of the line is preferred.
I saw you change the color of the Barcelona-Madrid line : its designed speed is theoretically 350 km/h, but allowed speed was 300 km/h, and since 2 weeks, is 310 km/h. Then, the line is out of legend, as legend is 300 km/h or 320-350 km/h.
I don't know if we must recolor the line (not 320), or change the legend (310-320 km/h).

Lyon - Turin[edit]

Hallo, FlyAkwa. Still on the subject of your update of this file, you should update the line lyon turin, as the French side the construction of the main tunnels began in 2007, while the Italian side of the tunnel construction began on the basis of the Magdalene in June 2011. Done. Thanks :) --FlyAkwa (talk) 13:21, 16 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Maximum operated speed[edit]

Be careful : the map show the MAXIMUM OPERATED SPEED, NOT the maximum designed speed. Indeed, the designed speed doesn't have a lot of sense, because it can be very high, and never reach by trains, even in the future. --FlyAkwa (talk) 22:43, 16 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Some issues in Germany[edit]

There are a few things to say about this great map of high-speed rail in Europa:

  • The new and upgraded line from Nuremberg via Erfurt to Halle and Leipzig (continuing to Berlin from there) is not quite depicted right. See this map on this.
  • There are a few 280 kph sections on the Hannover-Wurzburg and Mannheim-Stuttgart lines. This top speed is permitted for all ICE trains between Hannover and Göttingen and for some ICE trains (ICE 1 and ICE 2) on approximately the northern third of the Mannheim-Stuttgart line. Both lines were built for a initial design speed of 280 kph, however circumstances restrict the permissible speed on both inside of tunnels to 250 kph. In light of the sheer number of tunnels on both lines, the Linienzugbeeinflussung allows a train driver to go to 280 kph outside of tunnels while there is a (internal) timetable restriction that will only allow 250 kph for most of the journey, thus saving precious energy for short periods of accelerations and breaking from 250 to (at best) 280 and again down to 250 kph for the next of many tunnels.
  • Construction work for the new (Stuttgart-)Wendlingen-Ulm high-speed line began earlier this year and might be added. --Bigbug21 (talk) 15:28, 26 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

High Speed Limits[edit]

Hello, on the map is a mistake. The ICE International can only drives 250 km/h on the railhigh-speed rail lines of Belgium. Can someone revise that ? Dersim9999 14:23, 22.August 2012 (CEST)

High-Speed Lines in Belgium are identical to the French high-speed lines, and are travelled by Thalys at 300 km/h. --FlyAkwa (talk) 21:58, 10 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Tirrenic Line in Italy: Grosseto - Orbetello[edit]

Hallo, FlyAkwa. Still on the subject of your update of this file, you should update the line Grosseto - Orbetello, to 200 Km/h. Thanks User talk:Ceppicone
