Many errors in diagram

[edit]

There are quite a few problems with this diagram. Some are simple spelling errors or typos, others are just completely incorrect information.

  • top centre box typos: should be "military" and "experimental"
  • top right box:
    • typo: units after MAX SPEED should be km/h - note the '/'
    • "sound barrier" is a vague term, does it mean the speed of sound or the end of the transonic regime? The latter will be different for different planes. The former should be qualified with the air temperature since that determines the speed of sound. Either way, the red tick is indicating 1750 km/h but the speed of sound in Earth's atmosphere at 15 celsius is more like 1235 km/h https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/9d/Comparison_US_standard_atmosphere_1962.svg
  • on the Aircrafts timeline:
    • Boeing B-17 is at 1953 despite being used in WW2
    • General Atomics MQ-1 Predator is at 1955
    • Antonov An-225 silhouette is of the An-124 (An-225 has six engines and a forked tail - two vertical stabilizers)
    • B2 Stealth Bomber (should be B-2 on the timeline, proper name is B-2 Spirit) silhouette is of the F-117 Nighthawk
    • Airbus A380's "speed dial" indicates a maximum speed in excess of 1500 km/h, in reality it is 945 km/h

This is not an exhaustive list, these are just the issues I spotted with a quick glance over it. -- Wikkiwonkk (talk) 20:12, 9 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
