This site (Levkas) was part of the US Air Force 486L MEDCOM tropo link. The east antennas (overlooking the island of Scorpios) facilitated a tropospheric scatter radio shot to Martina Franca, Italy and the west antennas were a shot to Mt. Pateras, Greece (near Athens). The radios were FRC96 - 2GHz TWT fed ~10KW water cooled klystron transmitters; space, frequency, and polarization diversity were used. Generators supplied power to the repeater site and the barracks below. Microwave radio technicians and power production tech's were stationed here.
