The current PD-old-tag/"license" is clearly wrong, as the photographer died only in 1980! As the photo was originally shot in the antarctis, we have to decide which copyright law is applicable here; eventually PD-Norway, as has been suggested by Matthiasb[1]. --Túrelio (talk) 08:01, 12 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It is questionable, if the copyright of the photo can be attributed to Tryggve Gran as far as another (uncropped) version belongs to the collection of Herbert Ponting (1870-1935), presented on the website of the Scott Polar Research Institute (see here). Since Ponting left the expedition in March 1912 it is obvious that he was in fact NOT the photographer (dated: November 1912)! --Jamiri 21:44, 15 January 2013 (UTC)
