Greenock?[edit]

This page at LDS Church News as well as correcting the authorship of the sculpture states that "copies of the statue are scheduled to be presented to the cities of Oslo, Norway (Aug. 14); Hamburg, Germany (Aug. 18); Glasgow (Greenock), Scotland (Aug. 18); Liverpool, England (Aug. 20); Hull, England (Aug. 22); and Portsmouth, England (Aug. 25)". Now I have found photographs of the statues in Liverpool, Hull and Portsmouth but what about Greenock?

I hate to perpetuate the myth of Scots being tight-fisted, but I suspect the following: the statue was presented but no money was offered for its erection. The statue is probably still lurking in a corner of some Inverclyde council maintenance yard. — RHaworth (Talk | contribs) 14:26, 18 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
