What about people who want specifically Ubuntu 8.04? For example, a Wikipedia article in December 2008 talking about both the then-current release (8.10) and the latest LTS release (8.04). We should have both Ubuntu8_04.png and Ubuntu.png -- Jorge Peixoto (talk) 01:55, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree 100% with you, for example just look at the case of the german version of WikiNews: http://de.wikinews.org/wiki/Ubuntu_8.04_erschienen, they used version "Ubuntu_8.04.png" when ubuntu 8.04 was released, and if the image was "ubuntu.png" it would be later replaced with an image of ubuntu 8.10. You are right, we should have "Ubuntu.png" for all the generic purposes, like articles about Linux or ubuntu, and the specific version on the name of the image, for things like news, or tables with all the releases of ubuntu. Now the problem is that I don't know if Commons allows this... I think I read somewhere that no duplicates should exist... anyway, I removed the request for deletion and if there is some place to ask for both images to be kept, you can count with my support for that. Nice. I assume this will be a non-issue. The situation is very clear. -- Jorge Peixoto (talk) 20:55, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
