Description
English: Callipygian Venus. Marble, made at the French Academy in Rome, 1683-1686. Copy of Roman statue then in the Borghese collection, now at the National Archaeological of Naples. The drapery was added later by Jean Thierry (1669-1739) for decency reasons.
Français : Vénus callipyge. Marbre, réalisé à l'Académie de France à Rome, 1683-1686. Copie d'une statue romaine alors dans la collection Borghèse, aujourd'hui au Musée national archéologique de Naples. La draperie a été ajoutée postérieurement par Jean Thierry (1669-1739) pour des raisons de décence.
