Summary[edit]

Het gemeentewapen van Uden is ontstaan uit het wapen van de hertogen van Kleef, dat sedert de vijftiende eeuw ook voor het land van Ravenstein werd gebruikt. Oorspronkelijk bestond het uit een rood veld waarop acht gekruiste gouden scepters, waar overheen een zilveren hartschildje. In de akte van 16 juli 1817 wordt het wapen door de Hoge Raad van Adel als volgt beschreven: 'van lazuur, beladen met acht zich overkruisende aan weerskanten gelelieden stokken van goud voor middenschild van lazuur beladen met elf fasen en geboord mede van goud'.

Het bovenstaande logo dat de gemeente Uden medio 2004 is gaan voeren is gebaseerd op het oorspronkelijke wapen.
