Description

Os de mammifère depuis longtemps abandonné dans la nature, et marqué par les traces de dents d'écureuils. Ce comportement (ronger les os) pourrait avoir une double explication, l'animal cherchant une source de calcium, et cherchant à aiguiser ses incisives. Les bois de cervidés sont également rongés de cette manière (risque de maladie à prion/CWD en Amérique du nord ?)

Photo prise dans le parc du Hoge Veluwe au centre des Pays-Bas (Europe). Un problème est que 80 % du plomb toxique bioaccumulé par les mammifères et les oiseaux est fixé dans les os. D'autres polluants (radionucléides) peuvent s'y fixer.
