| Description | Main street of Pak Kok Kau Tsuen (old village) in Pak Kok, Lamma Island, Hong Kong. These are old-style houses, which I think consisted of a single room with half-loft. I was told that they were unoccupied because Chinese customary law divides property equally between all sons (all children?), and no decisions could be made without the agreement of all parties – some of whom could not be traced. For reasons I now can't remember, I believe the pipe at ground level to be the water supply for that part of the village. Taken 1992/3 on Fuji film. |
