The Marine Corps Martial Arts Program (MCMAP) is a combat system developed by the United States Marine Corps, which combines mental, physical, and character building training. Hand-to-hand and close quarter combat techniques, including training in unarmed combat, edged weapons, weapons of opportunity, and rifle and bayonet techniques are part of the physical training, which is based, in part, on martial arts. Morale and team building are also a key component of the program, which was established in 2001, and is required of all Marines and U.S. Navy personnel attached to Marine Corps units.
