English: The Fratres Cruciferi (also named Augustinian Hospitallers) spread since the 12th century from a hospital monastery in Jerusalem and a congregation in Italy. A rule and a constitution were granted by Pope Alexander III. in 1169. They were not mendicants and are not to be confused with the Hospitallers of St. John of Jerusalem.
