Deutsch: Gort (irisch: Gort Inse Guaire oder An Gort) ist eine Ortschaft im Süden der Grafschaft Galway in der Republik Irland, zwischen Loughrea und Ennis gelegen. Obwohl An Gort der offizielle irische Name des Ortes ist, hat sich im (irischen) Sprachgebrauch Gort Inse Guaire durchgesetzt. In Gort leben 2.734 Menschen (Stand 2006). Der Ort liegt direkt an der Nationalstraße N18 zur Grafschaft Clare, die von Galway nach Limerick führt. In östlicher Richtung verbindet ihn die Regionalstraße N353/N352 mit Portumna am Lough Derg. Gort gehörte einst zum Königreich Ui Fiachrach Aidhne, auch als Maigh Aidhne (Die Ebene von Aidhne) bekannt, einem Gebiet, das dem der heutigen Diözese von Kilmacduagh entspricht.

English: Gort is a town in south County Galway in the west of Ireland. An Gort is the official Irish name for the town, as defined by the Placenames Commission. In spoken Irish, however, the town is known by its traditional name Gort Inse Guaire. It lies just north of the border with County Clare on the main N18 Galway–Limerick road. Gort is situated in the territory of Ui Fiachrach Aidhne also known as Maigh Aidhne ("the plain of Aidhne"), which is coextensive with the diocese of Kilmacduagh / Cill Mhic Dhuach.

L'abitato è situato poco più a nord del confine col Clare sulla strada nazionale N18 Galway–Limerick.
