The “Leeward Antilles”, “islas de Sotavento” in Spanish, “îles sous le Vent” in French, is a group of islands part of the Antilles, located along the Northern coast of South America. They are rarely extended to Trinidad and Tobago (to the east) or Isla de Aves (to the north).
They should not be confused with the Leeward Islands, a terminology generally used in English to the northern part of the Windward Antilles.
