Zoom

[编辑]

I don't think there was a need for making a map of the full oblast. I seriously doubt fighting is ever going to reach northern parts of the oblast like Stary Oskol. In the Wikipedia article on the attacks [1] you can barely see the yellow parts in the image. There should be a zoom to only show the attacks where the incursions have taken place and their surroundings. If fighting somehow escalates to large scales, we at least already have an image of the full oblast and can extend it if necessary. Super Ψ Dro 13:54, 23 May 2023 (UTC)[回复]

@Super Dromaeosaurus, I created a map of the incursion with a very tight crop last night (it's listed in this file's sources), but I have now added it as an inset to this map. Physeters 15:24, 23 May 2023 (UTC)[回复]
@Super Dromaeosaurus, Physeters' edits have improved the titles of the initial file and it is much easier to read now. Showing the entire Belgorod region puts the incursions into context and new incursions have taken place on separate axis. Ecrusized (留言) 16:21, 23 May 2023 (UTC)[回复]
Yes. It is good now in my opinion. Super Dromaeosaurus (留言) 08:37, 24 May 2023 (UTC)[回复]

Light yellow color for Ukraine

[编辑]

At File:2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine.svg, which covers the fighting within Ukraine's borders, mainland Russia is shown in a light red color. It could be then a good idea to show Ukraine in a light yellow color in this file which covers all the fighting so far within Russia's borders. Super Dromaeosaurus (留言) 16:46, 27 May 2023 (UTC)[回复]

I agree that consistency would look nice between these maps. Johnson524 (留言) 20:12, 27 May 2023 (UTC)[回复]

Missing village

[编辑]

The hamlet of Lozovaya Rudka was also attacked, the area around Gorkovsky (by the way, the transliteration of the name of the village is wrong in the file) should include some areas to the east. Source: [2]. Super Dromaeosaurus (留言) 09:08, 3 June 2023 (UTC)[回复]

Hi Ecrusized and ZomBear, could any of you who've recently updated the file address these two problems? Thanks. Super Dromaeosaurus (留言) 16:59, 5 June 2023 (UTC)[回复]
@Super Dromaeosaurus Corrected spelling "Gorkovsky". Expanded the territory to the east of it, where Lozovaya Rudka is located. ZomBear (留言) 21:23, 5 June 2023 (UTC)[回复]
Thank you a lot! Super Dromaeosaurus (留言) 22:27, 5 June 2023 (UTC)[回复]

Sourcing

[编辑]

The second incursion likely does not look like that.

The only thing that has proper sourcing here is that Novaya Tavolzhanka being taken by rebels, and even that is a bit shaky.

The reference map for the second incursion is some random Twitter post. Visegrad is not always reliable, and anyway, the map still wasn't made by them. Also, if you believe random Twitter people, then here's some random Twitter people that say this map is a lie. (1) (2)

There is also no sourcing that there are battles taking place in some of those settlements.

Also, the first incursion is also sourced by the same random Twitter mapmaker. (Grayvoron clashes) (Other first incursion clashes)

You cannot source this map from random, obviously bias people. See guidelines WP:SPS, Wikipedia:SOCIALMEDIA, Wikipedia:Verifiability, and Wikipedia:Reliable sources. DinoSoupCanada (留言) 19:35, 5 June 2023 (UTC)[回复]

Chronology

[编辑]

Why are the Grayvoron District areas still shown as under pro-Ukrainian control, despite all sources agreeing they left that area to go to Shebekino? Is this map showing all areas that were ever under pro-Ukraine control? HappyWithWhatYouHaveToBeHappyWith (留言) 22:55, 5 June 2023 (UTC)[回复]

In my opinion, these areas should be redrawn to show that Russia has taken back control. Physeters 23:06, 5 June 2023 (UTC)[回复]
Definitely. Maybe we can make a second map to show the extent of control in May, or use a third color to label areas formerly controlled by the militants, but either way this map should not be falsely implying the militants control areas they no longer do. HappyWithWhatYouHaveToBeHappyWith (留言) 23:22, 5 June 2023 (UTC)[回复]
Maybe use light red? Or maybe just color the 22-23 May areas in normal red but leaving the villages and lines so that it is clear something happened there in the past, this is the current procedure we take at the Russian invasion of Ukraine map. Considering the map covers a small area I think it will remain visible this way but I am not completely sure. Super Dromaeosaurus (留言) 23:36, 5 June 2023 (UTC)[回复]
