Bond or share?

The English description uses the word "obligation" which is the usual French term for a bond; the Spanish description similarly calls this a "bono". However, from the text on the original document it would appear that this is a share, i.e., part ownership, not a bond. Anyone with a better understanding of 19th century finance care to comment?
