Compelling graphic, but needs work visually[编辑]

I very much like the content and structure of this graphic, but I believe the visuals can be greatly improved. A similar, more appealing graphic visually is located here: https://www.weather.gov/jetstream/absorb

My thoughts on what to change with this current graphic:

  • Remove the wave number axis from the top, which is less used than wavelength and adds noise, since the top is the first thing people see
  • Change "Downgoing solar radiation" to "Incoming radiation from Sun", shift right, add arrow down, move to top
  • Change "Upgoing thermal radiation" to "Outgoing radiation from Earth", shift right, add arrow up, move to top
  • Add the Earth and Sun colors (yellow, blue) to background, similar to weather.gov design
  • Move the "UV Vis Infrared" bar to the top of the graph, beneath the radiation labels
  • Remove smooth curve "The spectra of an absolute of a black body" label and lines, they add unnecessary clutter — 以上未签名的留言是由该用户加入的: Efbrazil (留言 • 贡献) 20:51, 3 August 2022 (UTC)[回复]
  • Add a rainbow to the graph for the visible spectrum, as weather.gov did, make the rest of the graph all black
  • Bump the size of all labels to be visible in thumbnail or smartphone views, increase line spacing
  • Right align labels in "Major components"
  • All captions should be sentence case instead of a mix (Major components, Spectral intensity)

Let me know if there are objections or additional changes needed or if someone else wants to take a crack at things. Efbrazil (留言) 19:21, 3 August 2022 (UTC)[回复]
