How can I update this file?

I have done some edits, in the vein of those in the history, to make this *highly cited* but currently inaccurate image more accurate. However, I see the message "You cannot overwrite this file" when I am trying to revise it. What is the proper way to do this? I don't want to upload and link a whole new image on the article, since the original artwork should be credited, but it needs to be changed.
