Red line that hem the CoA[編集]

Coat of arms of Croatia is defined by the Article 11 of the Constitution of Croatia as well as by the Law on the CoA, the Flag and the Anthem of the Republic of Croatia and on the Flag and the Sash of the President of the Republic of Croatia (Croatian text only).

Ministry of Foreign Affairs translated partially the text of the above mentioned Law - here.

Translation of the Article 7 of the above mentioned Law (in short: Law on the symbols of Croatia) it is clearly states that, quote "The entire coat of arms is trimmed by a red line." unquote.

Everyone who does not believe this translation may ask someone to translate the Croatian word obrubljen in English language and they would come across to the same conclusion. Nevertheless of the usage of the English translation trimmed or its synonyms like hemmed, rimmed, edged, bordered.

Edge is not of two colours[編集]

CoA is simply not bordered with white and red lines. It is bordered with a red line (singular). Praxis shows that the CoA on the Flag is portrayed in majority with a single borderline (one red line). The CoA and the CoA on the Flag must be one and the same.

Proofs[編集]

When using the CoA (not on the Flag) we have two praxis.

  1. Using one line red border (on documents, seals, diplomas)
  2. Using two line white-red borders (in some cases and often on the CoA at walls in govt. buildings)

Only one of these praxis is correct. I believe that it is the first one. Why?

  1. Because if the Law states there should be only one border then it must be so.
  2. Because when some public official makes a mistake then (in Croatia) everything must be as he/she says and she/he simply cannot be wrong AND/OR the complete public service (where that official serves) would rush into his/her defence because The service simply cannot be wrong OR/AND public services and public officials frequently respond that everything would be solved when Croatia joins EU (in the meantime they play computer games at ministries and read newspapers).
  3. Because if this white line is to be considered transparent then the Crown wouldn’t have been bordered with white and the part of the chequered shield would have been bordered by blue and red stripes.

Conclusion[編集]

The main mistake that appears almost everywhere is that the Crown is bordered with white colour. It is simply not true. The entire CoA is bordered with a red line and when the Crown (of the CoA) is completely set onto the red band/stripe of the Flag then this red line is not visible.

Colours and design of the Coat of Arms[編集]

Alright, Rainman says I should discuss the posts, I will. First of all Rainman is simply lying when he says I got the information from some "World Flag Database", the source is the Government of Croatia's webpage, here [1]. Rainman has denounced the Government of Croatia webpage as being inaccurate and that the Croatian parliament is the only viable source. He does not seem to recognize that the parliament is part of the Croatian government and that the government displays the template of the flag here [2] Rainman refuses to accept my edits because he has a personal dislike of me and refuses to accept edits that are not what he perceives are correct and gives no reliable sources to back his points up, he mentions the Croatian parliament's position on the colours, but so far has not given a link to let people investigate his claims.--R-41 22:06, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[返信]

I would have asked R-41 to be polite, but this would be expecting to much. He deliberatelly quotes the same links in order to magnify their meaning. I do not deny that my oppinion of him is not so great but this oppinion is well based concerning his attempts to use Serbian colours for the colours of the flag of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, and some other attempts.

It is strange to see that a person with such understanding of colours would insist in editing Symbols of Croatia.

And now to the more important things to write:

R-41 has not proven anything, he has not participated in the discussion Image talk:Flag of Croatia.svg at all. He found one source from the Governmental site - which used copyrighted picture from http://www.flags.net/CROA.htm

That picture is copyrighted by ©2007 The World Flag Database & Graham Bartram. I do not know whether the Government came to agreement with the copyright owners but this is not the main point.

The Government has no powers over the Symbols of Croatia (CoA, Flag, Anthem), this is the perogative of the Croatian Parliament exclusively. All of those facts are well known and can be read in this very discussion at the begining of this talk page.

As I explained to Lokal_Profi at Image talk:Presidential Flag of the Republic of Croatia.jpg the word "Government" as used in the English language is not the exact translation to the Croatian word "Vlada". User R-41 knows all that since he is able to read the text.

One source that R-41 has found is not enough to prove anything, other than the fact that the Government of Croatia is in this measurre uninterested with the issue (because Symbols of Croatia are not in its jurisdiction) and uses some copyrighted images to "beautify" its web-site.

Categorization[編集]

The categorization should be changed from Category:Chequy ordinaries to Category:Chequy shields.

Wrong category[編集]

Category:Chequy argent and gules should be removed, because this shield is actually "Chequy gules and argent". BrightRaven (talk) 22:33, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[返信]

I have created the appropriate category : Category:Chequy gules and argent. BrightRaven (talk) 22:52, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[返信]

redundant category[編集]
