Serious error[編輯]

The rays of the sun end abruptly above the waterline, but it should instead be seamless. Can someone fix this? VulpesVulpes42 (留言) 13:40, 13 July 2018 (UTC)[回覆]

It appears this is actually the way the Kiribati Government depicts the sun on their emblem (source: http://www.mfed.gov.ki/). I agree that it would look better seamless, but that's the way the Kiribati Government has chosen it show it. Squiresy92 (留言) 9:57, 24 July 2018 (UTC)

@Squiresy92: I understand the wish to conform to government sources, but it is not only aesthetically inferior, but it is also heraldically incorrect. It does not conform to the blazon. As a comprise, would you be willing to upload a separate, heraldically correct version? Thanks. —VulpesVulpes42 (留言) 19:04, 24 July 2018 (UTC)[回覆]
I retract what I said. Even though it isn't heraldicallly correct, there seems to be a symbolic significance behind the exact numbers of rays. —VulpesVulpes42 (留言) 19:08, 24 July 2018 (UTC)[回覆]
@Squiresy92: Terribly sorry for changing my mind again. On a third hand, the flag of Kiribati is just a banner of arms which also features the exact number of rays (without the rays ending abruptly above the waterline), so I think that a separate, heraldically correct file would be nice after all. One hypothesis I have is that a relatively poor Pacific island nation saw that its arms where available on Commons, and so decided to use that version. A bit of a chicken or egg mystery. @VulpesVulpes42: , @Squiresy92: As it is a simple banner of arms I updated the COA accordingly to the flag of Kiribati (simply cutting it out, after some mediocre inkscape tries). There is also an official source for the COA, which is simply a piece cut out of the flag (for which they give exact measurements for proportions etc, but don't implement those proportions accordingly in their images provided) too. Anyway, this COA should be both aesthetically appealing and heraldically correct, agree? --Hanzlan (留言) 10:41, 12 March 2021 (UTC)[回覆]
@Hanzlan: Thank you, I do think that that looks good! —VulpesVulpes42 (留言) 13:10, 12 March 2021 (UTC)[回覆]
