Brazil also had relevant Communist guerrillas (which even kidnapped the US ambassador in 1969), both urban and in the jungle, so I uploaded an updated version of the map with the corresponding dot.--Pedro 10:50, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

The so called communist guerrillas in Latin America were not communist, but many times just resisting right wing military dictatorships. Their programs were socialist in nature, not communist. Extreme left communist threat was used as an excuse from the USA to support the right wing military dictatorships in suppressing legitimate concerns of the general population. For example, at some point, USA considered Nicaragua to be a threat to US national security, a hard to believe claim.--DTMGO (talk) 17:19, 24 May 2009 (UTC)[回复]

Remarks

[编辑]

a) The "socialist countries aligned with the Soviet Union" perhaps should be changed to "Marxist countries aligned with the Soviet Union"? Because Algeria, Iraq, etc. also claimed to be socialists.

b) Perhaps Tanzania should be also salmon?

c) Mali was still pro-soviet in 1980, under Mussa Traore?

d) There was relevant anti-communist guerrillas in Ethiopia? I think that was almost only rival communist factions battling with each other. MiguelMadeira (留言) 22:32, 30 November 2022 (UTC)[回复]
