“The borders of the Soviet Union states that changed into countries after the Cold War.” – Yugoslavia, the ČSSR and the GDR were not “Soviet Union states”. The drawing, the description or both don’t make sense. -- Sloyment (留言) 05:30, 3 October 2022 (UTC)[回复]

"Borders" are not internationally recognized borders.[编辑]

In 2016, User Turnless who is now permanently blocked added disputed territories to the map. Nearly all of these involve Russian disputes. Although South Ossetia, Abkhazia, Transnistria, and Crimea are internationally recognized to be within the borders of other countries, Russia has recognized them as either separate countries or part of Russia, and stationed Russian troops in those territories.

If this is to be a map not of recognized borders but instead to be a map of disputed territories, then the map needs to be updated reflecting Russia's latest claims of Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson oblasts.

My view is that due to the usage of this map in wikipedia, the borders indicated should be those with broad international recognition. A map of disputed territories might be useful for some articles, but one map cannot serve both purposes. If there is no objection, I will revert the map to that prior to Turnless' addition of disputed territories, with the exception of the modified border of Croatia added by User Ceha. I have just reverted a series of POV edits which presented various parts of Ukraine as part of the Russian Federation. (And parts of Azerbaijan as Armenia.) This unacceptable non-neutrality must be carefully guarded against. Commons reflects the international situation, rather than parroting the absurd. GPinkerton (留言) 03:04, 26 December 2022 (UTC)[回复]
