File history[编辑]

I hate it when uploaders don’t get it done to cite their sources properly. Apparently, the file overleaf is the English (now multilanguage) and first SVG version of a simplified version (File:Collapsed tree labels simplified.png) of w:File:ITOL Tree of life.jpg. This detailed and indeed „highly resolved“ tree graphic was uploaded on en.Wikipedia on 8th February 2007 (version of last edit of uploader). The PNG that served as template for the SVG overleaf was uploaded on en.Wikipedia on 19th May 2007 (not existent on en.Wikipedia anymore, but see first uploaded version on commons) with the file description obviously copy-&-pasted from the file uploaded in February.
I note this here, because I was wondering about the tree overleaf being described as “highly resolved”, since its number of terminal taxa is quite low given that it comprises the entire diversity of organisms on earth. OK, “highly resolved” could perhaps mean that there are no unresolved polytomies in it, but one would express that by the phrase “fully resolved” rather than by “highly resolved”. Another possibility is that the uploader adopted that phrase from the title of the Ciccarelli (2006) paper that is cited as source. But only now, after I noticed that there is indeed a file showing a highly resolved tree elsewhere with almost identical file description, the description given overleaf really makes sense to me. Unfortunately, no reference was made to that detailed original tree graphic, and given that the simplified PNG version probably was drawn manually, the file description probably lies in saying that the template PNG was generated by means of iTOL!
I have changed the file description accordingly. --Gretarsson (留言) 14:39, 30 May 2018 (UTC)[回复]
