This isn't a crown. It's a coronet.

Crowns are for sovereigns. The Prince of Wales is not a (personal) sovereign.

It's a coronet. The animals are said to be "crowned" but the things they are crowned WITH are "coronets".

I'm finding, today, some notion going around the wikis that if a coronet has an arch then it's a crown. That's not true. It's not a distinction that depends on the presence or absence of arches, and, furthermore, why WOULD it be dependent on the presence or absence of arches? What do arches have to do with anything?
