Suggestions
[編輯]First, let me say I think this is an impressive job made difficult by the fact that there are no official neighborhood boundaries and local residents often can't agree on which neighborhood they live in or what it's called. But I have some suggestions:
- It's "Bolling Air Force Base" not "Boiling".
- Does the Lincoln Park neighborhood really not include Lincoln Park?
- The neighborhood described as "K Street" is usually just called "Downtown". K Street generally means just the street itself.
- You have two Colonial Villages depicted on the map. Only the northern one is correct. The southern one should be labeled "Crestwood".
- Some of the larger parks should be labeled, especially Rock Creek Park and East Potomac Park.

- Hey thanks for the thoughtful critique! I drafted this when trying to come up with travel divisions for Wikitravel's DC guide, so some of the names are not as official as they should be for Wikipedia purposes (like K Street). I'll make these changes.
- The Lincoln Park name is problematic, although that really is the neighborhood division as I've been able to understand it. But I see that Wikipedia calls the neighborhood Barney Circle, and that is less problematic, so I'll follow suit. --Peter Talk 02:07, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
- I am confused, though, about point #1 — it seems to me that I do have it labeled "Boiling Air Force Base." What exactly did you mean? --Peter Talk 02:13, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
- Boiling is wrong, Bolling is correct. Also, I'd split the American University Park neighborhood to show Spring Valley.--Patrick «» 21:41, 29 November 2008 (UTC)
- Whoa, I'm not sure why it took me over a year to make that change, but I have now ;) If I zone out like that again, anyone, please feel free to shoot me a message! --Peter Talk 17:14, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
G-town Law School area
[編輯]I really like the map, but I have a question:
- One neighborhood appears to be unlabeled, and I'm wondering what it is, particularly when I'm going to be living in that area come August. What is the neighborhood northwest of Capitol Hill, east of Judiciary Square, south of NoMa, and west of Union Station? It is an unlabeled triangular pink area on the map. - Update: I noticed this version (I think I was looking at an older version before) labels it "Swampoodle," but most articles and so forth I've read about Swampoodle seem to consider that a small neighborhood of a few blocks north of Mass Ave, so I don't think it applies to the region I'm describing. - Honestly speaking, I have no idea what the hell that neighborhood should be called, and you're right, it's not Swampoodle. The only thing I ever hear the area referred to is "the area right around Georgetown Law School." From my perspective, it's more of a hotel fiefdom (near the Capitol, Senate office buildings, and Union Station) plus one fantastic steakhouse, than it is an actual neighborhood. So yeah, no idea... ;) Until someone on the internet figures out what it is, I'm just going to remove the label altogether. --Peter Talk 01:57, 2 September 2011 (UTC)
