This photograph of the statue of Hume is posted on the page for David Hume the philosopher. However, it seems very likely that it is not in fact of him but of Baron David Hume (1756-1838) the eminent writer on the criminal jurisprudence of Scotland who is regarded as an institutional writer. The main reason behind my suspicion is that this statue is situated outside the High Court of Justiciary in Edinburgh, Scotland's highest criminal court.

I thought along exactly the same lines as the above contributor, but in fact, after carrying out some research, I find that the statue does indeed represent David Hume, the philosopher.

The fact that the figure seems to be wearing a Roman toga simply deepens the confusion (David Hume, the nephew, being an expert in Roman Law).

Whoever allowed this statue to be placed at its particular location deserves to be castigated for their irresponsibility.
