i rember myself when i leave west berlin with car to go to west germany , we always have to wait in lines before the face visit of the ddr-border , typical here is that we leave the car and stop the engine so it coud not run heat while waitin. so we lift the car forward step for step in place with power of our muscles wile waitin to reach the next check or get our papers back at the last house. after that we coud drive into the transit or in opposit direction out of transit in the berlin or west german side.

a driver of an heavy truck stopped behind the last check and leave the truck to run back to the last checkpost , was in the TRANSIT aerea. some guard on a guard tower far away seee this scene , screamed something and fire a salvo to that guy , thinking he would flee..... this truck driver dies there , in the checkpoint (not in dreilinden , other checkpoint) .......the crux was, the driver of the truck just had a missing part of his papers , stopped and leave the truck in search of asking the last checkhouse ...... he was going back to get his missin papers.
