This picture is not tagged properly. It was abandoned but not voluntarily. When the United States wanted to establish a military base here, and the land was a territory of England, the British government wanted the U.S. to let some of the inhabitants of this island to be hired to work on the base. The U.S. didn't want that and they said they wanted the island purged of all its inhabitants. The British moved everyone off this island. While the people were getting on boats to leave, their pets were being shot in front of them. This information can all be found in the book "Island Of Shame" by David Vine. It's a sad and shocking book.
