Problems with this mount

[编辑]

As a moa biologist, I have a couple of problems with this photo as the standard representation of a South Island giant moa. There are far too few vertebrae in the neck (11 as opposed to about 20), the posture is a little too upright, and the legs are dead straight: they should be slightly bent with a more horizontal femur. I'll look for a better photo for the Dinornis page in Commons. —Giantflightlessbirds (留言) 22:23, 11 July 2018 (UTC)[回复]
