Suggestion for improvement

[编辑]

There is in my opinion a huge disadvantage inherent in this nice animation: The velocity of propagation differs strongly during progress of the animation. It is strongly perceivable. I downloaded the animation and explored it step by step to screen an optical illusion out. Clearly, when car's just started the engine at e.g. frame 31, the speed of sound is about 8–12 pixel per 100 ms (framerate). When the car has accelerated at e.g. frame 2, the velocity of sound has magically decreased to about 4–5 pixel/100 ms. (This can be easily seen when loaded to Gimp by switching on each layer's visibility exclusively. Each layer contains the sound waves at the frame's current position and in addition the white erase out of the preceding frame's position on transparent background.) I even noticed different propagation speeds to the rear and to the front of the car. This is misleading, because in this case (moving source, fixed medium) only the frequency of sound, but not the speed of sound should differ between rear and front.

Due to the strong perceptibility it draws of the attention. Charly, please correct diese ansonsten sehr schöne Animation. -- Pemu (留言) 14:53, 6 August 2014 (UTC)[回复]

I uploaded a new one version. But remember: an animation can only represent the principle. It is always imperfect. Sincerely, Charly Whisky (留言) 20:53, 24 May 2018 (UTC)[回复]
