Not wanting to be annoying, but the claim below the image is that some responsible entity has ensured that the image is a public domain work. However, the source publication indicated, allowing for deadlinks, may be claiming Crown Copyright, although not clearly.

Can anyone explain whether Crown Copyright could or could not apply to an image such as this? And has clarification been sought from the source publication? I am not a lawyer, but if I remember correctly, if the Crown is in a position to assert Crown Copyright upon the work, then such copyright is not susceptible to the normal process of expiry. While this may not be of concern to many, I would like to have the correct information provided alongside this image, and any similarly affected other images.

The painter died in 1661, so the copyright has expired. Your IP is visible to everyone by clicking on 'History' on top↑. Create an account if you don't like that. --Achim55 (對話) 17:56, 23 October 2023 (UTC)[回覆]
