Color: 1 victory

[編集]

Those with vision problems do not see the difference between 0 and 1 victory, can we change the color for "1 victory"? thank you in advance — Preceding unsigned comment was added by 2A01:CB0C:75C:4B00:315D:2BFB:2770:E888 (talk) 13:47, 13 May 2017 (UTC)[返信]

Hello. You can't see the differences between grey and light purple color? ← Alex Great talkrus? 08:56, 14 May 2017 (UTC)[返信]

Germany has two wins...

Map of winners of the Eurovision Song Contest that dispayed West Germany and Yugoslavia in hatches.

...not one according to the color used in the map. --Blutgretchen (トーク) 11:30, 24 May 2015 (UTC)[返信]

OK...got it...that small map at the top right with the country borders before the german re-unification and the splitting of Yugoslavia indicates their first wins. --Blutgretchen (トーク) 12:47, 24 May 2015 (UTC)[返信]

Sorry but this differentiation doesn't make any sense. East Germany never competed in Eurovision and could not do so since its broadcasting corporation never joined EBU. Therefore, West Germany always took part as "Germany". The map should say 2 wins for the country. Hendrik, Cologne, Germany --109.44.1.74 14:13, 25 May 2015 (UTC)[返信]

Yugoslavia should be isolated like Australia is, without other borders, because the Cold War map shows countries like Switzerland as 0, but at that time it would have had wins. This would also solve the Germany/West Germany issue Hshook (トーク) 11:29, 26 May 2015 (UTC)[返信]

I agree to the IP. Reunified Germany is the legal follower of West and East Germany. Also the membership at the EBU is relavant an that is in both cases the same "company". All statistics that I know count 2 wins for Germany so why is this diffent here? I propose to remove Western Germany and set the count of the current German borders to 2 instead 1. FYI: There is a lengthy discussion about this map on Wikipedia's ESC page.-79.223.26.113 13:14, 27 May 2015 (UTC)[返信]

I think good way is hatched Former Republics of Yugoslavia and Germany with updating only modern countour filling of country. Like on this map. ← Aléxi̱s Spoudaíos talkrus? 15:02, 27 May 2015 (UTC)[返信]
I create hatched version (see right). ← Aléxi̱s Spoudaíos talkrus? 16:54, 27 May 2015 (UTC)[返信]
Good work! Support. --Blutgretchen (トーク) 23:12, 27 May 2015 (UTC)[返信]
Hatching is brilliant — fully support! cmglee (talk) 14:00, 28 May 2015 (UTC)[返信]
Wouldn't the hatching of Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, Macedonia, and Bosnia not confuse people into thinking they have also won, when they haven't? Now that is has finally been agreed that East Germany was absorbed into West Germany, the map has become modified to show Germany as 2 wins, whilst keeping Yugoslavia as an insert (seeing as they were a legitimate country at the time of their win in 1989). So the map as it stands is working and doing its correct function once again. Wes Mᴥuse 17:33, 28 May 2015 (UTC)[返信]
I do not support the hatched version. The main reason is that it obfuscates a matter that is really very simple: Germany won twice. With the hatch, people will wonder what it means, and the map should explain, not create questions. Also, people from the former Eastern Germany are Germans, and they could be (unnecessarily) miffed that "their" Germany only won once.
Thanks for your attempt to find a compromise. The current version (showing insets of Australia and Jugoslavia) is fine.-91.10.62.211 22:16, 28 May 2015 (UTC)[返信]
I think the current map is fine, but the Yugoslavia inset shouldn't have to show all of Central Europe - just a tight crop around Yugoslavia would do. Hshook (トーク) 08:38, 30 May 2015 (UTC)[返信]

I have updated the map with a tighter crop around Yugoslavia, as well as removing the Canaries. Hshook (トーク) 14:13, 30 May 2015 (UTC)[返信]

Remove Canary Islands?

[編集]

Is it really necessary to have the Canary Islands (a part of Spain) inset? One could argue that to be consistent, all French overseas territories should be included as they are considered part of France, unlike, say, British ones. Ta, cmglee (talk) 14:10, 28 May 2015 (UTC)[返信]

I have no idea why I added the Canary Islands, but not the likes of the Azores, French Guiana, St Maarten, Aruba ... Either all or nothing, and I can see the map getting too complicated with them all on. --AxG (トーク) 22:55, 28 May 2015 (UTC)[返信]
Exactly; therefore, I think it's simpler to not have the inset. Cheers, cmglee (talk) 09:26, 29 May 2015 (UTC)[返信]
AxG, do you reupload all maps with removing Canary inset? ← Aléxi̱s Spoudaíos talkrus? 08:21, 30 May 2015 (UTC)[返信]
If we show the Canaries, then we should really show all of Russia, all of the territories of France/Spain/Portugal/Netherlands etc. So I don't think it's necessary. It is such a minor point, so I don't think it's worth going through the whole history of eurovision maps, unless someone is really keen. Hshook (トーク) 08:34, 30 May 2015 (UTC)[返信]
Many thanks, AxG! cmglee (talk) 20:53, 31 May 2015 (UTC)[返信]
