Copyvio

[编辑]

I don't know why I got a copyvio notification for this file, as I had nothing in common with it, but none the less - I did some quick google search and... well, the results are inconclusive. The only mention of copyrights related to this image outside of wikipedia and copies was one pointing at NASA/JPL, but the website did not look thrustworthy. If it is in deed NASA/JPL than it should satisfy copyright requirements. It is not using a current ESA 3D model for TGO, but I have no clue which, if any, was before that. @Huntster: I know this file looks suspicious, with no author specified, but do you have anything else to support copyvio? SkywalkerPL, you had uploaded the image at http://mars.nasa.gov/programmissions/missions/future/exomarsorbiter2016/ earlier this year, which I traced backed to http://exploration.esa.int/mars/48445-exomars-2016-mission/, copyrighted European Space Agency. Yann deleted the image and left the earlier upload behind. Two lessons to learn from this: Don't upload an entirely different image on top of another, use a different filename; and please don't assume that an image is free of copyright just because NASA hosts it on their website, especially when it involves a mission headed by another space agency. I think an argument could be made to delete the older (current) image simply based on the precautionary principle, but I won't challenge it without evidence. Wow... that's so random. If you have a problem with copyright of this image - I don't know why you are addressing it to me. I have nothing to deal with this image, nor I made an assumption you suggested I did (all I said is that the results from my quick search were inconclusive - quick and inconclusive being the key parts). If you have a problem with this image - address it to those that uploaded it instead of going with this oddly lecturing tone to someone random just because he did a mistake year ago in a completly different image of the same spacecraft under a different circumstances. I'm indifferent to whatever happens with the image here. SkywalkerPL (留言) 13:32, 31 December 2015 (UTC)[回复]
SkywalkerPL, now I'm confused. The log showed you uploaded the deleted version I indicated above on 30 May 2015. Maybe it's a glitch in the system? Regardless, it's in the past. Have a Happy New Year! Huntster (t @ c) 21:45, 31 December 2015 (UTC)[回复]
