I am trying to ascertain where the bottom left had corner elements of the shield comes from (the fish ... perhaps a salmon and the thistles). This shield is supposed to be a composite set of elements from the first four provinces of Canada: Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. There is nothing to be found to substantiate the link between the bottom left hand corner of the shield on the Red Ensign and Nova Scotia while the other three provinces check out: Top left: Ontario; Top right; Quebec: bottom right; New Brunswick Can anyone please help me out ...or provide further illumination? I know this reply is almost a year late, but just in case anybody else wonders, that would be the coat of arms of Nova Scotia, used between 1867 and 1929. --Hfx chris (talk) 18:51, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[回覆]
