This should be moved to, e.g., "Anglo-French Naval Commission.svg" (see http://flagspot.net/flags/vu_nh.html). New research shows this does not fit the description of the flag of Franceville. See Image:Flag_of_Franceville.png for my attempt to match the description, but other interpretations would be welcome.--Goustien

I've uploaded a new vectorisation based partly on your interpretation (using a square instead of a rectangle as mentioned in your source) and my own small modifications. Unfortunately, the description is very wage regarding the different dimensions and especially arrangement of the five stars. Also, I uploaded the previous flag as Image:Flag of Anglo-French Joint Naval Commission.svg.--Froztbyte 18:17, 8 June 2008 (UTC)[回覆]

I need to retract my earlier statement. Harrisson apparently never saw an example of the flag, but gave a faulty English translation of the French description:

"La description du drapeau de Franceville est jointe à la dépêche adressée à Son Excellence: il est mi partie blanc et rouge, en disposition verticale, comme le drapeau H du Code de commerce, avec un carré bleu au centre, débordant sur le blanc et le rouge et cinq étoiles dans le bleu."

--E.N. Imhaus (1890), Les Nouvelles-Hébrides: avec une carte et sept gravures, p 160

A better translation would be: "half white, half red, vertically (like the 'H' of commercial code), with a blue square in the centre bordering on the white and red, and five stars in the blue"; this describes Image:Flag of Anglo-French Joint Naval Commission.svg. So perhaps Franceville retained the same flag used by the Naval Commission. --Goustien (talk) 23:53, 24 September 2008 (UTC)[回覆]
