Necessary explanation on the color[編集]

Antecedent

The Honduras flag has no official digital color, just a description found in the decree that created it in Feb 1866, modified in Jan 1949 to set further specifications, such as the color (article in Spanish). Its text says: La Bandera Nacional de Honduras constará de tres franjas iguales y horizontales, la superior y la inferior de color azul turquesa, la del centro blanca y llevará en medio cinco estrellas de cinco ángulos salientes del mismo color azul… (“The Honduras National Flag will consist of three equal and horizontal stripes, the top and the bottom ones in turquoise blue color, the one in the center in white and will have in the middle five equal-color stars of protruding angels…”). As surprising as it seems, turquoise is never been used in the confection of Honduras flags, on the understanding of “turquoise” as a color similar to this one:

so that part of the description became something merely nominal (this is something all Honduras citizens know). For instance, a local journal note titled "Where is the turquoise blue of the National Flag?" says: ...en la mayoría de los casos las dos franjas horizontales azules se confeccionan con diferentes tipos de tonalidades y no el azul turquesa que es el que corresponde legalmente. (“...in most of the cases the two horizontal blue bands are made with different kind of tones and not the turquoise blue which is the one corresponding by law.”). Such situation led to a long discussion both in es-Wikipedia and Commons to set an appropriate color for the file of the Honduras flag. That concluded when an es-Wikipedia Administrator and a Commons user (Zscout370) decided to set Pantone 285 as the color of that flag:

R: 0, G: 115 , B: 207

using as source the book Flag Manual: Beijing 2008, “Protocol Division” section, page B29; which contains the decision of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad to represent the Honduran flag with that color during those Games. This was done on the argument that this was the only blue color with a digital specification for the Honduran flag available. Then, that file was overwrite-blocked and was eventually taken as a legitimate representation of the flag.

Selecting which source provides with the 100 % accurate specific digital color of the Honduras flag would be an endless discussion, because among the ones with certain credibility the blue color varies:

However, most of them have a similar dark tone, and that's something that coincides with the long and marked tradition to make the Honduran flag that way. This was also addressed on the journal note mentioned before: A la Bandera Nacional se le produce con muchos matices: azul cobalto, azul marino, azul zafiro y azul klein, entre otros. (“The National Flag is produced with several shades: cobalt blue, navy blue, sapphire blue, and others.”). These are the mentioned colors put together:

Cobalt blue

Navy blue

Sapphire blue

Zscout370 himself had quoted an article on the Finances Secretary of Honduras web site (dead link) stating: Es de hacer notar que el azul turquesa equivale a un azul-verde y que, pese a esta legislación, el color de uso generalizado es el azul oscuro turquí (sexto color del espectro solar), equivalente al “azur” heráldico, que representa justicia, celo, verdad, lealtad, caridad y hermosura. (“It should be noted that blue turquoise is equivalent to a blue-green and that, despite this legislation, the widely used color is dark blue turquoise (sixth color of the solar spectrum), equivalent to heraldic "azure", representing justice, jealousy, truth, loyalty, goodwill and beauty.”). Those colors would be something like that:

Azure

Turquí

Such blue tone is seen at:

So, is evident that the Honduras flag is officialy made and widely known with a dark blue or navy blue-alike tone, quite different from the Pantone 285. That's why, after a failed attempt to have someone overwrote the previous file of the flag, I uploaded a new one with a midway color between:

R: 15, G: 71, B: 155

R: 11, G: 53, B: 131

Which are the result of an es-Wikipedia project that intended to establish specific digital colors to flags with only nominal descriptions, being the second color for flags described as turquí (in some Spanish dictionaries, a synonym of "turquoise"). The selected color:

R: 13, G: 59, B: 153

is in the right tone of blue: close enough to the blue colors found in most of the sources with digital flags presented before and matches quite well to pictures of official flags out of matte fabric. This should be more relevant than what a few sources may say. -Kes47 [REPORT AN ERROR] 09:17, 11 June 2020 (UTC)[返信]
