The title of the state flag

In the Norwegian flag regulations this flag is termed, in Norwegian, "statsflagg", i.e. "State Flag". Other places (sorry, no references on top of my head) the flag is termed, in Norwegian, "stats- og orlogsflagg", i.e. "State and Navy Flag". No mention of war flag. I suggest we stick to the regulations in lack of better sources. --Eddi 01:23, 29 October 2005 (UTC)

Well, the image description page isn't supposed to be an encyclopedia article about the flag. Perhaps you should correct w:Flag of Norway. dbenbenn | talk 02:17, 29 October 2005 (UTC)

It's not supposed to be an encyclopedia, but it's not supposed to be wrong either. The article has been edited and the image page will be. --Eddi 04:24, 29 October 2005 (UTC)

I don't know about in Norway, but in the United States, the navy is a branch of the armed forces, which fight wars. Flags of the World claims that this is a war flag. See also w:Vexillological symbol, which explains the meaning of the grid symbol. dbenbenn | talk 06:46, 29 October 2005 (UTC)
