I couldn't find any highly reliable source which would have confirmed the date, but this photo is from ca. 1920-1922, rather than 1910-12 that is suggested. At least it's taken after 1918 but before 1925.

  1. When better quality version of this pic is enlargened, you will notice that pin Hitler carries on his left breast, is most likely a party badge with a swastika. He designed this item in early 1920's. The party didn't exist at all before 1919.
  2. I have never seen a photo or a drawing made before or during the World War I with this short cut moustache style, which is also known as "Toothbrush moustache". During the war his moustache style was "Handlebar moustache". Only one pic, taken in Munich in August 1914 shows Hitler (or another guy who looks like him) standing in a crowd and has Hitler wearing moustache little similar to this pic, but details may disappear when this photo is enlargened. Generally it's assumed that Hitler took this style after the war.
  3. In addition Hitler in this pic is slightly fatter and older when compared to photos taken during World War I.
  4. The website where this pic is taken from has no info of original date, except that it's categorized under Primary Source Links for Nazism During the Weimar Republic, 1919-1933.
  5. Photos taken during the Hitler Putsch of 1923 and after will show Hitler even more fatter and older, so photo is most likely taken before 1923. However, after the putsch failed Hitler was jailed and he went on a hunger strike before his court sessions started. There are couple pics taken during that time in prison (late 1923 or early 1924) which will show Hitler very thin and young-looking again.
  6. During 1910-1912 Hitler resided in Vienna, and was most likely a man of limited means - he probably would have bought bread and soup instead of having his picture taken.

So, because of these reasons, I'll change the date. --Ukas (talk) 18:39, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[回复]
