Problematic map
[編輯]This map consider some christian states of Caucasus and low-Danube, vassals to the Ottoman Porte, as parts and provinces of the Ottoman Empire. This is wrong. Commons:Deletion requests/File:OttomanEmpireIn1683.png Takabeg (talk) 22:40, 30 October 2011 (UTC)
- If Romania wasn't a part of the Ottoman Empire, then what was the Romanian War of Independence (1877-1878) (a part of the Russo-Turkish War (1877–1878)) about? Where did the Pruth River Campaign of 1710-1711 take place? In which part of Slovakia was the Peace of Zsitvatorok (1606) signed? 78.181.132.235 10:15, 15 February 2013 (UTC)
- Romanian principalities wasn't "independent" until 1878 but wasn't "a part" of the Ottoman Empire, because in history exists an intermediary status : "vassal, but different and autonomous". Don't delete the map, I corrected it since H.E. Stier (dir.) Grosser Atlas zur Weltgeschichte, Westermann 1985, ISBN 3-14-10-0919-8, pp. 71-119 and other atlases : christian principalities - vassals but not provinces of the Ottoman Sultanate : in grey marked out with red ; Ethiopia weren't a part of the Ottoman Empire ; some little islands, straits and lakes. --Spiridon Ion Cepleanu (talk) 22:03, 1 October 2013 (UTC)
