Are the numbers correct?

[编辑]

Why are the numbers so different from this numbers: https://www.statista.com/statistics/1127799/influenza-us-mortality-rate-by-age-group/#:~:text=The%20mortality%20rate%20from%20influenza,of%20death%20in%20the%20U.S. ? --PJ Geest (留言) 08:38, 13 April 2021 (UTC)[回复]

Also here are other numbers: https://github.com/mbevand/covid19-age-stratified-ifr --PJ Geest (留言) 08:54, 13 April 2021 (UTC)[回复]
Hi Geest, the mortality of flu is estimated. That's why. There is a VAST fluctuation between countries about what constitute "dying from old age" and how desperate the doctors will be to test you for all viruses after death. In normal situation, a 85yo senile man with diabetes will fall under that category. But if the doctors a pressed to find a cause, they are likely to find one. Let it be a flu, a diarrhea or a coronaviruses of some sort. People simply don't die a day they feel "well". There is more often than not a mundane trigger of some sort. Recently, it have been Covid-19. Iluvalar (留言) 04:12, 1 September 2021 (UTC)[回复]
PS: I don't see much "differences" in the numbers you submitted. Given the above circumstances. Iluvalar (留言) 04:14, 1 September 2021 (UTC)[回复]
