These pictures always bother me - they show the electric field and magnetic field going through maxima and zero in phase. In fact, the magnetic field is at maximum when the rate of change of the electric field is at maximum, and the electric field is passing through zero. Maxwell's equations are differential equations, and d(sin a) = cos a. gil_johnson
